A rare first issue Japanese pressing of Pink Floyd's 1975 LP, Wish You Were Here
Offered for sale is an original Japanese pressing of Pink Floyd’s 1975 album, Wish You Were Here, complete with the original blue shrink wrap, the sticker obi, the postcard, and the Japan-only poster.
Pink Floyd’s Wish You Were Here was a worthwhile follow up to their 1973 blockbuster, Dark Side of the Moon, and was a hit with both fans and critics. In several countries, the first pressings of the album were sold with opaque blue shrinkwrap, which hid the cover art from buyers. This was true in Japan, as well, and the obi on these first pressings was a sticker on the shrinkwrap, rather than the more common, wraparound type. Since most buyers discarded the shrinkwrap after purchasing the record, first pressings that still have the wrap and sticker obi are quite rare. The Japanese pressings also included a custom lyric inner sleeve, a Japanese lyric insert, a postcard, and a poster, which was included only in Japanese editions of the album.
The record is M-, and has clearly only been played a couple of times. The cover is still in the shrink wrap, which has a slight tear in the upper right hand corner which has been secured with transparent tape.
This is a beautiful copy of a rare first pressing which is seldom found in this condition.
