A sealed original mono pressing of the first album by the Monkees
Offered for sale is a sealed mono copy of the self-titled 1966 debut album by the Monkees.
The Monkees, released in 1966, was the first of several best-selling albums by the made-for-TV band. Backed by the Wrecking Crew, the band took the album to #1 on the U.S. charts, helped by the hit single “Last Train to Clarksville” as well as the theme song from the TV show.
The copy offered for sale is a sealed mono pressing on the original Colgems label, catalog number COM-101 RE. This is the second version of the cover, with the corrected spelling for the song “Papa Gene’s Blues.”
The record is still sealed and presumably mint and unplayed. The wrap is tight and nearly perfect, aside from a very small (1/8″ or so) tear in the wrap on the spine.
A beautiful copy of a record that’s quite hard to find sealed.
