A complete sealed set of all four covers for the 1981 Genesis LP, Abacab.
Offered for sale is a sealed set of four copies of the 1981 Genesis LP, Abacab, featuring all four color variations of the cover.
In the late 1970s and early 1980s, a few bands experimented with using multiple covers on their albums. The Rolling Stones had multiple cover variations on 1978’s Some Girls, Led Zeppelin had 6 different covers for In Through the Out Door in 1979, and the Police used 36 different covers for 1983’s Synchronicity.
In keeping with the trend, Genesis designed their 1981 release, Abacab, with four different covers. The art was the same on each one, but the colors were different, and each cover was indicated with a letter on the spine – A, B, C and D.
This set is a complete set of sealed first pressings with one example of each of the four covers. Each album has a hype sticker for “No Reply at All” on the front cover and none of the covers have a bar code.
Cover “A” has a 1″ split in the shrink wrap at the mouth of the cover. Cover “D” has a 1″ and a 2″ split in the shrink wrap at the spine. Covers “B” and “C” have wrap that’s complete and tight with no tears or holes.
A great example of the only sealed complete set of Abacab covers that we’ve ever seen.
