Carole King – Tapestry sealed Classic Records 4 LP 45 RPM set

A sealed copy of the limited edition 45 RPM pressing of Carole King's 1971 LP, Tapestry

$250.00

Offered for sale is a still sealed copy of the 4 LP, 45 RPM, limited edition pressing of Carole King’s 1971 LP, Tapestry.

Tapestry may represent the high point of Carole King’s career.  After a successful decade as a Brill Building songwriter, she set out in the early 1970s to become a solo artist.  Her second album, Tapestry, was both a critical and financial success, and remains one of the top-selling albums of all time.

AllMusic.com gave it five stars:

Carole King brought the fledgling singer/songwriter phenomenon to the masses with Tapestry, one of the most successful albums in pop music history. A remarkably expressive and intimate record, it’s a work of consummate craftsmanship. Always a superior pop composer, King reaches even greater heights as a performer; new songs like the hits “It’s Too Late” and “I Feel the Earth Move” rank solidly with past glories, while songs like “Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow,” and “(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman” take on added resonance when delivered in her own warm, compelling voice. With its reliance on pianos and gentle drumming, Tapestry is a light and airy work on its surface, occasionally skirting the boundaries of jazz, but it’s also an intensely emotional record, the songs confessional and direct; in its time it connected with listeners like few records before it, and it remains an illuminating experience decades later.

The copy offered for sale is a limited edition, 45 RPM pressing issued about ten years ago by the now-defunct Classic Records.  The album was cut at 45 RPM and pressed on four single-sided, 180 gram discs for optimum sound quality.  The first record in the set includes a printed cover; the other three are in plain white jackets.  This title was only in print for a short time and was quickly deleted, probably due to contractual issues.

The copy offered for sale is still sealed and is presumed to be mint and unplayed.  The shrinkwrap is intact with no tears.  This is a great-sounding and very rare pressing of a classic album by a songwriting legend and is one of the harder 45 RPM titles issued by Classic Records to find today.
