Offered for sale is a sealed copy of the numbered, promo-only colored vinyl release of the Beatles’ 1982 LP, Reel Music.
Reel Music was a compilation album released in 1982 by Capitol Records that contained songs that had appeared in the Beatles’ films A Hard Day’s Night, Help!, Magical Mystery Tour, Yellow Submarine and Let It Be. To promote the album, Capitol pressed 12,000 numbered copies on gold (actually, it looks yellow) vinyl. These were issued strictly as promotional items and were not offered for sale to the public.
The copy offered for sale is still sealed and is presumably mint and unplayed. This copy is numbered 9153, though the number wasn’t printed especially well (see photo.) There is a 6″ separation in the shrink wrap at the mouth of the cover, and a slight (3″) split in the inner sleeve. The album should also include a color booklet.
While we’ve seen a number of low-numbered copies of this album over the years, we’ve never actually seen one numbered this high before. While there were supposedly 12,000 copies pressed, this is the only copy we’ve seen that was numbered above 7000.
A nice copy of a great Beatles collection.
